As someone who has used tons of heat protectants, I am confident to say that an expensive heat protectant is not always as protective as regular ones. And I just got another pricey heat protectant mist from Drybar today, I was pretty impressed by their hair styling tools, but I have never tried their hair products before. Will this Drybar Hot Toddy heat protectant mist impress me again? Let’s find out!

It’s a pretty small hair mist

The Drybar Hot Toddy mist has beautiful packaging, the pink and white gradient with plenty of Drybar logo on it makes the product look pretty and luxurious. The bottle itself is solid and durable, it’s not like those cheap sprays with inferior soft plastic material, the Drybar Hot Toddy heat protectant is comfortable to hold and the finish of the bottle feels very high-quality.

Although I’m impressed by the design at first sight, It’s not deniable that this heat protectant is skinny. It says on the bottle the liquid volume is only 4.6 ounces. If you are looking for a heat protectant that can last for years, you might not like it. The good news is that the Drybar Hot Toddy is an aerosol spray, which means it doesn’t require liquid as much as regular hair sprays.

Does it have strong scents? Yes!

The most noticeable scents in the Drybar Hot Toddy are floral and sweet notes. You can smell vanilla and coconut immediately when you give it a spray in the air.

However, one’s meat is another’s poison. I have to admit that this heat protectant has fairly strong scents, and they might smell weird for people who only accept mild scents. Unfortunately, the Drybar Hot Toddy heat protectant is great for protecting hair but it is not ideal for being used as a styling spray or leave-in conditioner. I strongly recommend you go for a versatile heat protectant spray for hairstyling and haircare if you are as lazy as me.

My complaint – it’s not an affordable choice

Many women who have bought this heat protectant agree that it is too pricey for the size. The heat protectant from Drybar retails for $29, and I couldn’t find any discount online. Since Drybar’s hair tools are also marketing to high-end customers, I’m not surprised at all. But you do have many more options out there with lower prices and similar performance.

Bottom line

The Drybar Hot Toddy heat protectant mist is a reliable product for dealing with heat when straightening and curling hair, it is worth buying for people who need a powerful aerosol hair protector that is lightweight and protective.

But this heat protectant mist cost more than most heat protectants on the market and it can’t be used on wet hair. Moreover, if you’re sensitive to strong scents like migraine, you should note that many buyers are not satisfied with the scents of this product.
